C.F. Kayser, Solingen

The C. F. Kayser, Taschenmesserfabrik / Stahlwarenfabrik, company was founded in 1879 by Carl Friedrich Kaiser who specialized in making pocket knives. In 1892, the company was located on Kolner Strasse, until 1901 when it moved to Friedrichstrasse 31-33. In 1899, Kaiser was advertising in Solinger Adressbuch the sale of "Fine pocket and pen knives, lock knives etc." with a "Specialty in bicycle-shaped cigar cutters" (patented). The business traded as "C.F. Kaiser" until 1905 when the business (and later Family name 1911) changed its name to "C.F. Kayser" (the "i" changed to "y"). From 1920 to 1930, the company was owned by Artur and Max Kayser. The 1922 Solingen und sein Industriebezirk advertisement above includes their offerings of: "Pocket and pen knives, military and lock knives, professional and gardening knives". Come the Third Reich, Kayser manufactured early era SA daggers. The company survived the war. In 1961, the company was still recorded at Friedrichstrasse 31-33. The last change in the commercial register was made on June 6, 1980. The C. F. Kayser company is still owned by one individual yet it is no longer economically active.
