Carl Heidelberg, Solingen | RZM M7/65

The Carl Heidelberg Stahlwarenfabrik company traces its beginnings back to the Saam & Heidelberg company. The dual bottle trademark was initially registered in 1921. The 1922 advertisement above markets: "pocket and pen knives, cutlery, bread, meat and kitchen knives." Come April 1, 1930, Carl Heidelberg advertised in Messer und Schere offering "first-rate quality hunting and sport knives." The company was located on Zeppelinstraße in 1935. Interestingly enough, Carl Heidelberg was not included in the 1935 RZM list. The codes were listed from 1-64 then 66. Heidelberg was listed in the 1938 RZM survey, yet they likely received their license prior to that (c.1937). During the Third Reich era, Hitler Youth knives, SA/NSKK daggers, DLV/NSFK daggers and dress bayonets were all manufactured. Heidelberg was not included in the July 1938 Die Klinge list of HJ manufacturers, despite them offering HJ knives at that time. Heinz Heidelberg was listed as the owner in 1939, when the company was located on Buscher Feld 55. Nothing past the Third Reich era has been notable and the company likely ceased trading.
