Daniel Peres, Solingen

The Daniel Peres, Stahlwarenfabrik, company began in 1792. D. Peres entered into the Solingen commercial register on October 4, 1878. Come 1895, Peres registered its beer barrel trademark. Peres manufactured: flatware, razors, scissors, pocket knives and hair clippers. The family business continued into 1900 with Max and Franz Peres listed as the owners. During the Great War, many staghorn-hilted hunting knives were made as combat knives for the troops. In 1928, ownership transferred to Dorothea and Kurt Peres. Come 1930, the company was located at Friedrichstrasse 24. During the Third Reich, early era SA daggers were made-Fisher estimates 3,000. After the war, Peres advertised the sale of pocket and pen knives. In 1986, the company moved to Felderstrasse 41. It later focused on the sale of scissors, specifically with the "Dany" brand. The company was later acquired by Kurt Reiner Witte. Witte continues to sale of "Witte" brand scissors to this day.
