The Ferdinand Neuhaus, Stahlwarenfabrik, company began in 1859 by Ferdinand Neuhaus. The family firm registered with the Solingen chamber of commerce in 1870. Neuhaus's horseshoe trademark was registered in 1897. In 1920, the company was located on Gasstrasse 65 in Solingen. Come 1925, Neuhaus registered another trademark of: a horseshoe surrounded by Ferd. Neuhaus Solingen, within an oval. During the 1920's, Neuhaus was listed as a maker of cutlery and pocket knives. In a Messer und Schere advertisement, Neuhaus promoted its good quality vegetable knives (Gemüsemesser). Come the Third Reich, early era SA Daggers were made-Fisher estimates 5,000. In the 1939 Deutsches Reichs-Adressbuch für Industrie, Neuhaus was advertising: "cutlery, articles for gifts, household knives and saw-edged knives (Sagemesser)". That same piece featured Ferdinand and Gustav Neuhaus as owners. Come 1936, the business re-located to Kolner-strasse 24 and remained there until April 23, 1951, when it dissolved.
