The Giesen & Forsthoff, Stahlwarenfabrik, company traces it roots back to February 27, 1920, with Paul Giesen and Eugen Forsthoff. On August 23, 1921, the partnership registered their trademark of: a figure holding a "G" and "F" within a lozenge shape (no. 270462). The company began with a specialization in: pocket knives, cutlery, razor, scissors and advertising articles. In 1928, the partners acquired the razor-making business Hoppe & Co. During the Third Reich, Giesen & Forsthoff manufactured early era SA/NSKK daggers. They did not receive an RZM code in 1935. In 1939, their company was recorded on Baumstrasse 36-38, in Solingen. Eugen Forsthoff left the company in 1945. The company remains with the Giesen family to this day with Managing Director Katharina Giesen and her mother and co-partner Christiane Giesen. The company continues to manufacture handmade: straight razors, razor blades, manicure/pedicure products, cases and accessories, out of the Baumstrasse 36-38 location. It also has a separate "Timor" brand and line of products.
