Gottfried Weyersberg Söhne, Solingen


The Gottfried Weyersberg Söhne, Stahlwarenfabrik, company began in 1785. G. Weyersberg was one of the oldest makers of cutlery, knives and swords operating in Solingen. The "Baron" tradename was registered on December 14, 1785. Weyersberg registered with the Solingen chamber of commerce in September 1881. In 1853, Weyersberg's trademark of a vase with three flowers (Blumenvase) was registered. The 1900 edition of Deutsches Reichs-Adressbuch lists Otto Weyersberg and Felix Rauh as owners. Weyersberg concentrated on the manufacturing and sale of swords and sabers during the 19th century. Felix Rauh was listed as sole proprietor form 1914-1939. G. Weyersberg purchased the J.J. Bick Sohn knife-manufacturer firm in the 1920s. Weyersberg also manufactured hunting knives, bayonets and swords, among other many other items. Come the Third Reich, early SA daggers were made-Fisher estimates 1,000. The business was located on Heinrich-Diehl-Strasse 16 in 1939. Business resumed after the war as "Baron-Stahlwarenfabrik". In 1970 the firm moved to Ritterstrasse 61. The business ceased trading March 22, 1996, and their "Baron" tradename was acquired by the "Marsvogel-Stahlwarenfabrik" company. Gottfried Weyersberg Söhne was incorporated again with the district court of Wuppertal on June 23, 2018, and is operating as a completely different business.
