The Gustav Wirth, Stahlwarenfabrik, company was founded in 1897. It registered with the chamber of commerce on June 23, 1919. In the 1922 Solingen und sein Industriebezirk advertisement above, it lists: "all knives for hotel requirements, cutlery and luxury components and also blades for the silverware industry". Wirth's trademark of: a "W" within a dotted oval, was registered in 1926. Come the Third Reich era, early SA daggers and NSKK daggers were made-Fisher estimates a total of 4,000. In 1939, the company was recorded at Schulstrasse 27 in Solingen-Gräfrath. In the 1960's the business was acquired by the Hermann family. As of 2003 Rudolf Hermann was listed as the owner. According to the district court of Wuppertal the company is no longer in business.
