The H. A. Erbe AG, Metallwarenfabrik, was located in Schmalkalden in Thuringen. The first record of the Erbe firm can be found in 1895 when it registered a centaur and tree trademark. Over the next fifteen years, Erbe registered five additional "Erbe" type trademarks. In the 1930's, Erbe was listed as a manufacturer of German nickel-silver and silver-plated cutlery. During the Third Reich, after Erbe received its RZM M7/69 code (c.1938), Erbe manufactured minimal SA/NSKK daggers and perhaps Army daggers. In August 1941, Erbe was allotted the "hhu" K98 bayonet war letter code. The firm likely discontinued after the war.
