Carl Malsch Spitzer, Steinbeck Kr. M. | RZM M7/91


The Carl Malsch-Spitzer, Messerfabrik, company traces its beginnings back to 1896 with the two knife makers: Carl Malsch and H.S. Spitzer. Both firms were listed separately in 1900 and the partnership was not recorded in the official directories until 1925. The partnership was located on Hauptstrasse 18 in Steinbach Kreis Meiningen in Thuringen. From 1930-1942, Malsch-Spitzer manufactured: kitchen, bread and meat knives, alongside cutlery and flatware. The company had two location one (Abt. 1) for manufacturing steelware, and the other (abt. 2) for manufacturing Mops. During the Third Reich, early era c.1933/34 SA daggers were made, post-1938 SA/NSKK daggers were manufactured with the RZM number M7/91 and SS daggers were made with the RZM 1221/39 SS (1939) contract code. The shop was last recorded empty in 2001.
