The Klittermann & Moog Rasiermesserfabrik/Stahlwarenfabrik company traces its beginnings back to the brand name "KLIHASO" (KLIttermann HAan SOlingen) that was registered in 1920 by Oswald Klittermann. Early trademarks (see ad above) included; an elf, asleep under a toadstool, being tickled by a fairy (left) and "THE SAVOY" flanked by two griffins (center). The later better-known trademark features an embowed arm holding a spear, encircled by "Klittermann & Moog G.m.b.H. Haan b/ Solingen." During the Third Reich era, advertisements appeared in Die Klinge that added: edged weapons, daggers and sheath knives to its list of products. Klittermann & Moog manufactured edged weapons for the NSDAP along with a few dress bayonets. Klittermann & Moog was located on Diekerstraße 11 in 1935 and received their RZM code that same year. The M7/29 code was also attributed to Jacobs & Co. around July 1938. Early SA/NSKK daggers were made, along with several transitional variations in 1939. Klittermann & Moog used a unique etching template for their RZM M7/29 mark, which included a decorative "M", likely to distinguish it from Jacobs & Co. The SS Contract Number 324 has been attributed to Klittermann & Moog, yet it was most likely for Jacobs & Co. Klittermann & Moog and Jacobs & Co. both produced SS daggers with the unique exclamation mark motto "Meine Ehre heißt Treue!" There was likely some type of working relationship among the two. Trading is believed to have ceased in or shortly after 1945.
