The Malsch & Ambronn, Malbronn-Werk Messerfabrik partnership was first listed in 1921. The company was located on Bahnhofstraße 23, in Steinbach-Hallenberg, Schmalkalden-Meiningen district of Thüringen. The man and water pump, "AM BRONN" (at the well), trademark was registered on May 20, 1925. The firm had two workshops: Unit I made knives and cutlery and Unit II polishing cloths and polish. The owners during the 1930s were Karl and Willy Malsch. During the Third Reich era, SA/NSKK daggers and HJ knives were being made. M&A received their RZM M7/87 number on June 13, 1938, yet it was withdrawn July 29, 1942. In 1942, Malsch & Ambronn were selling: cooking, bread and butchers knives and cutlery. In 1951, the firm's letterhead showed its business as "Gesenkschmiede, Stahlwaren und Mop-Fabrik." Round hand and polishing mops were available throughout the 1950s. The man and water pump trademark was last renewed on March 3, 1985, but was cancelled on September 30, 1997. The business was still making flatware in nearby Bad Liebenstein in 2002.
