The Wilhelm Kober & Co., Metallwarenfabrik, company began in 1874. The company was located in Suhl, Thuringen. Kober's specialty was mechanical hair clippers. In 1895, Kober registered their Centaur trademark. In the 1930's Kober was attempting to diversify and included small electric motors to their offering. During the Third Reich era, many quality early SA/NSKK daggers were made. In July 1941, Kober received its wartime K98 bayonet letter code: 'gbh'. The company ceased trading in 1945.
