The Wilhelm Wagner Stahlwarenfabrik company began in 1876. It registered with the Solingen authorities on June 4, 1898. The company was located in Solingen-Merscheid on Schwertstraße 35 in 1920. In 1922 and 1925, Wagner advertised specializing as a pocket knife manufacturer (Taschenmesserfabrik). Come 1928, it expanded its operation to include: pocket and pen knives as well as scissors. During the Third Reich era, Wagner manufactured SA daggers and HJ knives. Wagner was one of the earliest manufacturers of HJ knives being listed in both the February and March 1934 Die Klinge magazines. Wagner received its RZM license in 1935. The company was listed in the 1938 RZM Survey and in a 1938 Die Klinge magazine as well. The company was located on Beethovenstraße 254 in 1932 to 1974 when it dissolved in January of that year.
