The Artur Schüttelhöfer & Co. (ASSO) Stahlwarenfabrik company was founded in 1920. Schüttelhöfer registered in Solingen on January 28, 1921. Its two crossed hobby horses trademark was registered in 1921. ASSO advertised in the 1922 Solingen und sein Industriebezirk as specializing in table cutlery and straight razors as a "world-renowned" manufacture. ASSO was located on Wiedenkamper Straße 25 in 1922. It received its RZM M7/13 license in 1935. A small advertisement published on September 15, 1939, in Der Messerchmied mentions not only cutlery but also SA/NSKK daggers as well as Hitler Youth knives. Schüttelhöfer manufactured: SS, Army and Luftwaffe daggers as well. Schüttelhöfer is no longer in business and it likely ceased trading shortly after the war.
