The Ernst Hugo Rasspe, Stahlwarenfabrik, company began sometime prior to 1899. In 1900, Rasspe was listed as a penknife manufacturer. Come 1914, Rasspe was owned by Ernst Hugo Rasspe and Hermann Grah. By 1920, Rasspe was a registered as a knife manufacturer. In the 1922 Solingen und sein Industriebezirk (above), Rasspe advertised their specialty products as: hunting knives, lock knives and cutlery. Come the Third Reich, early era SA daggers were manufactured-Fisher estimates 1,000. By the mid-1930's, Rasspe concentrated its efforts on tools, including glass-cutting and painting tools. In 1938, the company was recorded at Wupperstrasse 101 in Solingen. by 1939, ownership of the company had transferred to Hermann Grah and Max Heinen. Rasspe survived the war, yet it is likely minimal trading occurred. The company dissolved and ceased trading in October 1968.
