The F. Eduard Ohliger, Messerfabrik, company began sometime prior to 1898, when it registered its "Distel" brand name. From 1900 to the 1930's, Ohliger was known as a manufacturer and exporter of: good-quality knives, pocket knives and cutlery. Frz. Eduard Ohliger Jr. and Carl Ohliger, were listed as the owners in 1914. Come the Third Reich, early era SA daggers were made-Fisher estimates 2,000. The company was located on Felderstrasse 11-13 in Solingen. It is likely the company ceased trading after the war, though some family ties may still be sharpening knives and scissors to this day.
