The Hugo Linder, Deltawerk, Scherenfabrik/Stahlwarenfabrik, company began in 1878. In 1895, Linder registered their trademark of: a vine leaf within a triangle (representing the Greek letter delta). Come 1900-1914, Linder was listed as a manufacturer of shears, specifically: poultry and metal shears, along with veritable, gardening, rose, grape, pruning and hedging shears. In 1914, the company was owned by Alfred and Eduard Linder. In 1916, the office and factory was built on Gasstraße by the Solingen architects: Max and Karl Franz. Come the 1920's, the company was also making: gardening and grafting knives, tree scribes, various types of pliers, pocket knives and pocket scissor, tools and machinery. The workshops in Solingen and Pasing also produced bicycle parts. From 1920-1928, the company was owned solely by Eduard Linder. Come December 12, 1928, Hugo Linder registered with the Solingen chamber of commerce. In 1930, the company transferred ownership to: H. Windmoller and K. Biermann. Come the Third Reich, early era SA daggers were made. Deltawerk did not receive an RZM code in 1935. By July 1941, the company received their wartime bayonet letter-code: "gyr". The company survived the war and sales continued into the early 1960s, when it was acquired by the "Gebrüder Richartz" firm. It was then renamed to "Hugo Linder Deltawerk, Zweigniederlassung der Vereinigte Stahlwarenfabrik, Gebr. Richartz & Sohne GmbH". The company ceased trading shortly after the takeover. In 1995, the office and factory building went through a massive restoration project. In 2001, the Deltawerk building was honored with the monument protection prize of the Bergisches Geschichtsverein. On May 5, 2002, the Deltawerk building was awarded the "Living Corporate Culture" award at the Regional 2006. Today, there are more than 50 young companies still active within the Gasstraße location.
