Rudolf Büchel, Solingen-Merscheid
The Rudolf Büchel, Stahlwarenfabrik, company began in 1923 and registered with the Solingen chamber of commerce on April 30th of that year. Prior to 1923, Büchel had a family history in manufacturing pocket knives, and had worked for the Gebrüder Weyersberg company as an export salesmen to South America. Büchel initially manufactured commercial metal wear and cutlery. Come the Third Reich era, Büchel, manufactured early era SA/NSKK and army daggers, along with combat knives, dress/fireman bayonets and army swords. In 1939, the company was located on Merscheider Strasse 221 in Solingen-Merscheid. After the war, Büchel focus on household and butcher knives. Büchel passed in the 1960's and the business was passed on to his son and daughter who continued operations into the 1970's.
