The Carl Schmidt Sohn KG Stahlwarenfabrik company began in 1829. Schmidt registered with the Solingen chamber of commerce on October 31, 1916. Early on the company manufactured all types of cutlery and tableware. The house (or chapel) trademark was registered in 1895 and again in 1921. By 1900, the company was specializing in fine quality pocket knives and scissors. Schmidt was located on Düsseldorfer Straße 28 in 1935 (renamed to Kronprinzenstraße in 1939). During the Third Reich era, Schmidt manufactured: SA/NSKK and RAD daggers along with Hitler Youth knives. Schmidt received its RZM license on June 4, 1938. In 1965, the company relocated to Saarstraße 14-16. Schmidt remains in business and continues to offer a wide range of stainless-steel professional: knives, pots, pans and kitchen cookware.
