Wilh. Weltersbach, Hubertus, Nimrod, Weidmannsheil, Solingen | RZM M7/22

The Wilhelm Weltersbach Stahlwarenfabrik company was founded in 1882. It registered in Solingen on August 2, 1910. Weltersbach specialized in "all types of good-quality hunting knives." Weltersbach registered the double-spouted village pump and "Nimrod" trademarks in 1926. Weltersbach received its RZM code in 1935. "Weidmannsheil" was registered prior to 1938. Weltersbach was listed in Die Klinge and the RZM office of approval during the Third Reich as a maker of HJ knives. The dual oval pump trademark has been observed on SA daggers. Advertisements published in Messer und Schere in 1938-39 illustrate a range of: "Weidmannsheil folding lock-knives for huntsmen and garden, pruning, pocket and folding butcher knives." The company was located on Bimerichter Straße 11 from 1935-1986. Immediately after the Second World War, Weltersbach began a cooperation with the Kuno Ritter knife factory, which was very successful. Weltersbach focused on pocket knives and Ritter fixed blade knives. The two companies likely had a strong relationship prior to the war as 1935/36 evidence suggests that they shared the same etching template/specialist. In 1961, Weltersbach's relationship with K. Ritter ended as Ritter purchased the Gebr. Gräfrath company and hired their workers to offer what Weltersbach was able to, all under the "Ritters Hubertus" brand. The last in the Weltersbach line of cutlers died in 1991, and all output had stopped by 1994. The company, brand name and stock were sold to Jim Parker. Parker passed away in 2004. Weidmannsheil knives are still produced in the Olbertz plant in Solingen for the "Parkers Knife Collector Service" firm in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
